Kimpressive Illustration and Graphic Design
I was born in 1978 in the Netherlands. During High School I studied at the National Ballet Academy in Amsterdam. The dream of becoming a classical dancer was disturbed by injuries and another challenge for the future had to be found.
In 2001 I started studying Graphic Design at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam. During the first year at the art academy I got in touch with illustration, a direction I wasn’t familiar with. For me this was an direction that really fitted me and gave me more freedom in creating what I wanted to create and developing my own style.
During my internship for fashion magazines I discovered the love to make fashion illustrations. The fashion Illustrations were appreciated from the beginning on and I was asked to illustrate a certain column for every edition. I started developing this direction during my last year at the WDKA. This combination guided me to a fashion brand where I am working since 2006 as Fabric Designer (allover prints and woven patterns) and Graphic Designer for Garment Artworks.
After my graduation from de WDKA in 2005 I started as Kimpressive in Amsterdam as a freelance Illustrator doing various projects for different clients as Sanoma Uitgevers, Holland Combinatie, Mediabeheer Amsterdam, Blue Brand, Moluks Historisch Museum, Filmhuis Cavia, etc.
